Early Childhood Education and Preschooling

The goal of early childhood education is to promote children’s growth, development and learning in a holistic way in cooperation with their guardians. 

Early childhood education encourages equality and non-discrimination and is aimed at preventing exclusion. The learned knowledge and skills strengthen children’s inclusion and active participation in society.

Early childhood education is part of the Finnish education system. Early childhood education provides a methodical and purposeful combination of teaching and care, with special emphasis on pedagogy. Children receive early childhood education in kindergartens, family day care and through open activities.
