The environmental services of the Sea Lapland area are in charge of veterinary emergency and primary health care services for farm animals, horses and pets in the Kemi area.

Small animals are treated upon appointment. With urgent matters, an appointment can be arranged for the same day and with less urgent cases, as soon as possible.

The aim is to treat all patients on weekdays during opening hours. Emergency services are available for urgent matters outside opening hours.

Telephone Appointments

You can book sick and farm visits, appointments or telephone consultancies on weekday mornings from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. by calling vets’ mobile phone numbers, which can be found by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.

Vets can also be contacted at other times regarding urgent matters. If you cannot reach a vet immediately, leave a message on their answering machine and they will call you back.

Do not send text messages to vets’ telephone numbers, as these will not always be delivered if, for example, the telephone is turned off or call transfer has been set that diverts calls to another number. You can leave a message in the answering machine.

Emergency Services

Outside normal opening hours, there is always one vet on call in the emergency area that includes five municipalities (Tornio, Tervola, Keminmaa, Simo, Kemi). Emergency services are intended for medical emergencies requiring immediate treatment. Telephone consultancy and other non-urgent matters, such as the treatment of long-term illnesses, are treated during normal opening hours.

Calls will be redirected to the vet on call, unlike text messages.
